COVID-19 Update

As of Tuesday morning, 5/19, WNY has been cleared to begin the four-phase process of reopening.  As it has been explained by the governor, in each phase, the seven metrics must be met before the next phase can begin.  Each phase will be two weeks in duration, while maintaining the metric evaluation.  Currently, the reopening of New York churches has been identified in Phase 4.

And beginning today, 5/21, Governor Cuomo has said, “religious gatherings of no more than 10 people will be allowed statewide.  Social distancing measures must be enforced and all participants must wear masks.”  This means any of our connection groups (adult and supervised youth – where comfortable to gather) are allowed to meet while strictly following the guidelines (6 feet of separation & masks).  The church building is not currently open; but the parking lot is available.

As we wait to hear further how we may begin to reopen the doors of Amherst Alliance Church and resume in-person ministry activities larger than 10 people, please know the staff and leadership are working to identify how to do so in as safe and secure a manner as possible.

The past nine weeks have been challenging in many ways.  We thank you for the many ways in which you, the church family, have creatively and responsibly connected with the body for further spiritual growth and sought to connect with the community throughout this time.  Thank you for the ways you have sought to be socially distant and spiritually connected.

Thank you for responding generously in your giving of tithes and offerings the past nine weeks.  While giving has decreased slightly during this time and we have cut back on our spending, we are able to pay our staff, ministry is continuing, and the benevolent fund is growing faster than people can be helped.

If you know of anyone needing help, please contact one of the elders; or, email the church office through the “envelope” link at the bottom of the page.

Thank you for your ongoing flexibility as our situation continues to be fluid as we move toward in person meeting and ministry once again.  As we proceed, please continue to pray for wisdom and discernment for the details of reopening; pray we will continue to impact our neighborhoods, community and world in-person and digitally as the body.

Jesus Christ is our living hope.
